This renovation project proved to be extremely challenging, as the buildings had fallen into disrepair and were well beyond their intended renovation stages. Our primary goal was to restore them to a condition that would make them fully habitable for the college community.
Upon inspection, we encountered several significant issues. The floors were severely damp and rotten, presenting both safety hazards and structural concerns. The electrical fittings and wiring throughout the buildings were outdated and in desperate need of replacement to ensure safety and compliance with modern standards. Additionally, we discovered multiple roof leaks that required immediate attention to prevent further water damage.
Another major aspect of the project involved addressing water drainage issues. To protect the buildings from further moisture infiltration, it was essential to redesign the landscape around them. This included adding paving to help redirect rainwater and damp away from the foundations, ultimately contributing to the long-term stability and livability of the structures.
Despite the obstacles, our team was committed to transforming these neglected buildings into welcoming and functional spaces for students and faculty alike.
